The number of scholarships available for Division 1 (D1) football programs varies depending on the specific rules and regulations set by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, D1 football programs are allowed to offer a maximum of 85 full scholarships per year.

These scholarships are distributed among the football team’s roster, which typically consists of around 85 scholarship players and additional walk-on players who do not receive athletic scholarships. It’s important to note that not all players on a D1 football team receive full scholarships; some may receive partial scholarships or preferred walk-on status, where they are guaranteed a roster spot but do not receive financial aid specifically for their athletic abilities.

It’s worth mentioning that scholarship limits can change over time, so it’s recommended to consult the NCAA guidelines or reach out to specific colleges and universities for the most up-to-date information on scholarship availability for D1 football.
